Kids to Camp / Family Supportive Housing Fundraiser
Watch our two minute project summary video
A long partnership supporting homeless children
For 18 years Prince of Peace has generously funded children residing in Family Supportive Housing's San Jose family shelter to attend a one-week sleep over camp in the Santa Cruz mountains. For many of these kids, it’s their first sleep over camp where they have the opportunity to experience God’s creation, make new friends, and enjoy activities like climbing walls, archery, and singing songs around the campfire. But most importantly, this joy-filled week allows them to leave behind the stresses of their homelessness.
2020 brings a new challenge
Our prayer was to send 25 kids to camp at a cost of $11,500 or $460 per child but given the ongoing social distancing concerns, whether camp is possible this summer is uncertain.
During this pandemic shelter expenses have skyrocketed for personal protective equipment (PPE) and disinfecting efforts. To create a safer environment, volunteers are no longer permitted so staff is working overtime to fill the gaps. Food costs are higher with fewer donations coming in.
Help is needed!
Whether we send kids to camp or help offset the shelter’s COVID-19 expenses, our goal is to raise at least $10,000. Please donate today. No donation is too large or too small; all greatly appreciated! These families need our help more than ever. Check back for updates on where the funds will be directed.
