One of the benefits of a church community is that you can do more than you can on your own. At Prince of Peace we "serve the hopes and hurts of our neighbors and ourselves" by getting involved in both the Prince of Peace community and the surrounding Silicon Valley.

Service to the Community

Actions speak louder than words. We are community that values actions.  In addition to the ministries to the Prince of Peace community, listed below, our Social Ministry Team coordinates many of our social service activities to outside charities and organizations.

Prayer Chain

• People who offer prayer support
• Group is activated when a prayer request is called or emailed in
• In turn, each prayer chain member will pass on the concerns to the next link in the chain
• New links in the chain are ALWAYS welcome!

Homeless Ministries

Our homeless ministries are targeted at both supporting existing shelters like Family Supportive Housing in San Jose, and providing shelter. See our Homeless Ministries page for more detail and to get involved.

Rotating Safe Car Park Shelter

Supporting those that sleep in automobiles. RSCP grew in response to the need to provide short-term support when long term solutions are out of reach. Learn more on our dedicated RSCP page.

Meal Ministry: Lunches & Dinners

• Deliver 5 "sack lunches" consisting of sandwich, fruit, chips, drink and a treat to Prince of Peace. 
• A driver then delivers 50 lunches to Family Supportive housing for distribution to residents.
• Sign-ups in the e-notes or contact Drew Ajer 

"Emergency" Meals

• Be "on call" to prepare a meal for a family or individual on short notice
• Group is activated when a need is identified such as: new baby, illness, mobility concerns
• Short period of time or longer term depending on need

Request Meals

Caring center

• Write a note to someone in need of a pick-me-up.
• Cards, stamps, and address book provided in the Narthex every Sunday.

Property Maintenance

• Volunteers who repair and maintain church buildings and grounds
• Regular maintenance takes place every Wednesday from 8:30-11:00am with a 10:00 am coffee and fellowship time
• Special projects happen on the third Saturday of the month 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
• Come and go as your schedule allows
• Great opportunity for school volunteer hours!

Adopt-a-highway

• Monthly, a crew of Prince of Peace volunteers gather to collect trash along the north bound stretch of highway 85 from Saratoga avenue.
• Join our email list to be informed of dates.​

Linus Project

• Makes blankets for children in stressful situations like hospitals
• Cut fabric & Tie knots, no sewing skills required
• Meets the 4th Wednesday of the month, 10:00am, in the Conference room

Food Pantry Collection

• There is a small food pantry on site that is well used by the community.
• Bring non-perishable food to add on Sunday.
• In addition, financial contributions for "food pantry" are donated to local organizations or used to stock the onsite pantry.

Outreach Ministries

Find out more about the ministries outside of Prince of Peace that we support financially and with our time and energy. We are a bottom-up, not a top-down organization: All of the agencies and organizations we support come from the passions of our participants, not our Pastors.​
