Community Ministry

Serving the Needs of Our Congregation

Prince of Peace provides support for its members in need. Some examples of the way that we provide support to our congregation are:

  • Providing financial support for members that have had a significant hardship;
  • Driving homebound or less mobile people to appointments and grocery stores;
  • Doing handiwork and yard work for our members that may not have the resources;
  • Sponsoring endowments/scholarships to help our youth pay for college tuition;
  • Bringing meals to people who are ill, celebrating a birth, having surgery, etc;
  • And attending and supporting events/walks which directly or indirectly affect members of the congregation;
  • Making referrals to organizations that can more fully meet their needs;
  • Training and matching Stephens Ministers to walk with you during your most difficult journies.

  • If you have a need or know someone who does, contact the office at 408-253-7167 for more information.

    Convalescent Hospital Ministry

    Prince of Peace provides comfort and ministry to those that are confined to convalescent homes and hospitals. Many of those that we visit have no other friends or family.

    Family Supportive Housing, Inc. (San Jose Family Shelter)

    Prince of Peace provides dinner to the families staying at the Family Supportive Housing throughout the year. We also provide camperships which allow over two dozen children from the shelter to attend a summer retreat at Mount Cross. Family Supportive Housing provides food and shelter to the growing number of homeless families.

    Habitat for Humanity

    Prince of Peace is part of a team of churches, sponsored by Thrivent and Habitat for Humanity, which has helped to build houses for families in need in the South Bay. This program is part of a national program which will build more than 1000 houses in the next two years. 10 – 15 members from Prince of Peace volunteer several times a year to help with the house building and to support the house builders.

    Next Build Date:Saturday, March 6, 2010
